Patient failed 6+ months of nonsurgical treatment including physical therapy, oral NSAIDs, and multiple peritrochanteric hip injections. 63yo active female with three years of focal lateral hip pain, previously diagnosed as trochanteric bursitis by multiple providers. Patient failed several rounds of nonsurgical treatment including physical therapy, oral NSAIDs, and multiple peritrochanteric hip injections. MRI revealed complete full-thickness tear of the gluteus medius tendon attachment.
